2024 PSAANS Board of Directors Elections and Nominations

Election Process:

PSAANS will hold an election for its Board of Directors on Thursday, September 26, 2024. An election will occur in each of the following four Regions:

Cape Breton Victoria Regional Centre for Education:
One (1) Director seat

Halifax Regional Centre for Education:
Two (2) Director seats

Strait Regional Centre for Education:
One (1) Director seat

Tri-County Regional Centre for Education:
One (1) Director seat

Members only vote for candidates in their region. In case of a tie, a run-off election will follow. Nominations open on Monday, September 9, 2024, and close on Wednesday, September 18, 2024. Candidate info will be posted by Friday, September 20, 2024. Results will be announced on Friday, September 27, 2024.

Appointment Process:
Up to three appointed Board positions representing diversity (gender, ancestry, skills) are available. EOIs open on Monday, September 9, 2024, and close on Wednesday, September 18, 2024. Results will be shared on Friday, October 4, 2024.

Ratification:
The Board of Directors will be ratified at the Annual General Meeting on Thursday, October 17, 2024.

Governance Overview:
PSAANS represents educational administrators with a vision of building strong systems and schools. The Board consists of a Chair, 11 elected Directors and up to 6 appointed members representing diversity. Directors serve two-year terms and must be active PSAANS members.

PSAANS Priorities:

Education and Professional Excellence: Strengthening and promoting excellence in education.

Negotiation and Advocacy: Negotiating on behalf of members to gain improvements in the Terms and Conditions of Employment, as well as compensation and benefits directly for administrators or as a result of affiliation with the NSTU.

Building Relationships and Instilling Confidence: Fostering positive relationships among and between administrators, as well as the broader educational community and instilling confidence in the profession.

Support and Protection: Providing support and protective services for members in order to enhance effective leadership that promotes the recruitment and retention of leaders.
