Election Process:
PSAANS will hold an election for its Board of Directors on Wednesday, September 27, 2023. An election will occur in each of the following five Regions / School Board:
Annapolis Valley Regional Centre for Education:
One (1) Director seat
Chignecto-Central Regional Centre for Education:
Two (2) Director seats - 1 One year term and 1 Two year term
Conseil scolaire acadien provincial:
One (1) Director seat
Halifax Regional Centre for Education:
Two (2) Director seats
South Shore Regional Centre for Education:
One (1) Director seat
In the abovementioned Regions, each PSAANS member will receive one ballot. PSAANS members are only eligible to vote for a candidate in the region in which they work. In the event of a tie, a run-off election will be required. The ballot for the run-off election will include only the candidates in the tie.
Nomination Forms: Nominations for elected positions open on Monday, September 11, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. and will be open until Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at 8:00 p.m. Candidate information for the Board of Directors Election will be posted on the PSAANS website on Friday, September 22, 2023.

Election Day: The election for the PSAANS Board of Directors will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Notification of Election Results: Results of the election will be communicated to members on Thursday, September 28, 2023.
Appointment Process:
The Board of Directors strongly believes that the Board should represent the diversity of PSAANS members.
Expressions of Interest (EOI) are also being accepted for up to four (with no minimum) appointed Board of Directors positions representing diversity as defined in the By-Laws taking into account such things as gender, ancestry, experience, skills, and leadership roles of the current Board members.

Director representing Administrators of Indigenous Ancestry:
One (1) Director seat
Up to two more Directors to respond to the need for further diversity on the Board of Directors
Notification of Appointment Results: Results of the appointment process will be communicated to members on Thursday, October 5, 2023.
Board of Director Ratification:
Ratification of the complete Board of Directors will be made by a regular motion at the Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at 4:00 p.m.
Governance Overview:
PSAANS Vision: PSAANS is “an inclusive professional association representing the diverse interests and voices of educational administrators at the school and regional levels whose leadership is central to building strong systems and strong schools where staff and student success are the priorities.”
PSAANS Board of Directors Composition: Eleven elected Directors: AVRCE (1); CBVRCE (1); CCRCE (2); CSAP (1); HRCE (3); SSRCE (1); SRCE (1); and TCRCE (1). In addition to the elected members, the Board of Directors also consists of one Director appointed to represent members of African Descent; one Director appointed to represent members of Indigenous Ancestry, and up to four appointed Directors to reflect the diversity of the membership including gender; ancestry; experience; skills; and current leadership role. Director positions are elected or appointed for a two-year term. Directors must hold a permanent position and be an active PSAANS member.
PSAANS Priorities:
Education and Professional Excellence: Strengthening and promoting excellence in education.
Negotiation and Advocacy: Negotiating on behalf of members to gain improvements in the Terms and Conditions of Employment, as well as compensation and benefits directly for administrators or as a result of affiliation with the NSTU.
Building Relationships and Instilling Confidence: Fostering positive relationships among and between administrators, as well as the broader educational community and instilling confidence in the profession.
Support and Protection: Providing support and protective services for members in order to enhance effective leadership that promotes the recruitment and retention of leaders.
