2019 Elections to the Board of Directors
Six Regional / School Board elections will be held due to Directors either completing one-year terms or due to vacancies. Each PSAANS member will receive one ballot. Each member will only be able to vote for a candidate in the region/school board in which they work. Elections will occur in the following areas:

2019 Appointments to the Board of Directors
Expressions of Interest will be accepted for the following Board of Director positions:

Director position representing PSAANS members of African Descent (New seat)

Director position representing PSAANS members of Indigenous Ancestry (New seat)
-
Up to two additional Director positions from the membership to increase the diversity of the Board.
Board of Directors
The Board of Directors is entrusted with specific powers and responsibilities by the by-laws of the association; the general management of the association, develop proposals for by-laws or amendments, direct the development of policies and their approval, identify additional objects for the association, make financial decisions for the investment of funds, establish committees that further the Association's objectives, plan and prepare for the annual general meetings and conference and with the assistance of the Elections and Nominating Committee hold elections and make appointments.
The Board of Directors meets for two days in person in Halifax in the months of October, December, February, April, June and August.
Election Process

Each member will only be able to vote for a candidate in the region/school board in which they work. Elections will occur in the following areas:

The deadline for nominations to be received is Wednesday September 25, 2019 (11:59 pm). A confirmation email will be sent to acknowledge receipt within 24 hours. Only Nomination Forms received by the deadline will be accepted. The information below AS SUBMITTED on the Nomination Form will be shared publicly and with PSAANS via the website. An email without an attached Nomination Form will be declared invalid. For clarity, a candidate is only required to complete “Name”, “Current administrative role” and “Region/School Board” and sign and date the nomination in order for it to be complete. Other information collected on the form is intended to help candidates present themselves to their peers, but it is not required to be completed in order for the nomination to be valid.
Candidate information will be posted publicly on the PSAANS website on Monday September 30th, 2019
Elections will be held on Wednesday October 9th, 2019 in each region that has more than one candidate nominated. Elections will be decided by single ballot and the candidate with the most votes cast for them is declared the winner (First Past the Post).
PSAANS members will be informed of the election results on Thursday October 10th, 2019 by email

Only EOI forms received by the deadline will be accepted. The information below AS SUBMITTED on the EOI form will be used by the Nominations and Elections Committee. An email without an attached EOI form will be declared invalid.
